P-06-1508 Limit the Welsh Councils to a maximum increase of 2% on Council tax each year, starting in April 2025 – Correspondence from the Petitioner to the Committee, 21 February 2025

Good Afternoon

I write in response to your email asking for my view on the attached document you sent.

I feel that the document only passed the buck and is not taking responsibility for the increase in council tax ,we as tax payers are going to experience again this April.

The Welsh government has the power to bring in legislation to force council's to limit the increase to council tax to inflation only.

The increases that are due to come in in April are way above inflation as they where for 2024/2025.

The politicians do not have any idea how these increases affect the population of Wales.

It is all well and good saying you have funds to help, but if council's managed there finances efficiently there would be no need to increase council tax by way over inflation.

Also there needs to be a fundamental change in how our council's are ran.

We need an amalgamation of Council's to bring down costs.

To sum up council's have forgotten they work for us not the other way around, they can't keep using us as cash cows,it is unsustainable .
